The new class met for an all-day orientation and training meeting at Bluewater Grill, where they learned and laughed with Leadership Trainer & Facilitator Kathleen Terry, Program Coordinator Dinah Lary. Several Alumni attended the morning session to make presentations about the Leadership Redondo program and what it meant to them. Each participant will attend one full-day meeting every month through October of 2017. Each of these meetings are themed field trips to experience and learn first-hand about Redondo Beach’s community services and meet, interact with, and learn from civic and municipal leaders. Class members will take part in an overnight retreat, as well as a special project to benefit the community, chosen by the group, for development and completion the following year. The professional and personal growth began at the first meeting, where participants from many different facets of the city and community learned about themselves, their communication styles, and each other, focusing on their strengths and developing a vision. Leadership Redondo alumni and past and present city officials joined the Class of 2017 at the annual Alumni Welcome Reception at the end of the day. The enthusiasm was contagious, and a great time was had by all!
