Fulbright Dental

After 10 years of not going to the dentist due to extreme dental anxiety, I took the leap to finally take care of my oral health. The first step is the hardest. Dr. Fulbright and his amazing staff were so welcoming and comforted me during my many tearful sobs and fear. They have amazing technology and explained everything to me in detail. I also really love their holistic, whole-health approach! I'm a nurse and I've never had medical or dental care where providers really take their time the way this staff did. They collaborated with me to create a treatment plan that works for me and my dental anxiety, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to get my oral health on the right path and to overcome my dental fear. I had a new set of teeth once I was finished and only one of them is an implant. I started off with sleep apnea, and it required me to have crowns put on all of my teeth. I had approximately 6 mm of length added to each tooth it took over a year, and could only be done in quadrants.
The result is, I am able to eat and taste everything so much better. I find myself being the last one to finish eating because I enjoy chewing so much. I get more flavor from my food than I ever used to.

They are quite simply the best in the South Bay, the most state of the art dental office and equipment I have ever seen. Someone always on call in a pinch, which my husband and I have both been in.. when it comes to your overall health, your dental health is important. So is your smile. you want the best.. and someone you can trust and rely now and for the next 40 years. It's a lifetime decision once you find the best - and they are the best!

Dr Gerson and his team were always amazing, honest, reasonable, would work with you, never felt pressured to have unnecessary work or got the idea anyone is after my money. Most of the great reviews here are before Fulbright took over.

I can't say money and business and upselling has been decoupled from an ethical and professional approach at the new Fulbright office. Medicine and dental care is a business but there needs to be some constraint on the greed at this place.

If you don't inform yourself and explore your options you might end up spending an exorbitant amount of money and be convinced you had to. They will charge thousands upfront before any work has been done. Their practice is also to upsell and smooth talk you into spending more.

Please get a second opinion and understand this office is very very expensive. Don't feel obligated to spend the 5 grand. People in the beach cities have money and Fulbright knows it and is absolutely maxing out what they can get. We are all subject to greed but this place has an exceptionally high concentration of it.

Can't say enough great things about Dr Fulbright and the lovely ladies on his team. I came originally to talk about a sleep study along with my teeth cleaned. I found out I had a tongue tie, which I'd never heard of nor any other dentist mention to me. I also have a high narrow palate and a cross bite. They also discovered in X-rays I had very little airway on one nostril. I since have seen a Dr for my nose and had surgery ( both airways were completely blocked) and I decided to fix my palate doing the Vivos which will expand it and help my tongue placement and to keep it from blocking airways. I'm also getting my tongue tie fixed in Jan and have been working with Andrea to prepare for it. My mouth , teeth and gums have never been better. Best dentist and staff I've ever been to

The dentist who has taken care of my family and me for more than a decade closed down her practice (sole practitioner) and joined Fulbright last year.

We've gone from being very happy to much less so.

My first was for my bi-annual check-up and cleaning in January. Same as it's been for 10 years. Showed up on time, did the usual COVID stuff and got my teeth cleaned. So far so good. While I was in the chair I was told I should start using an electric toothbrush...something called "perio trays"... and, BTW, I should have my teeth cleaned 3x a year, not 2x.

This is from the hygienist (who I literally just met), not my dentist. Oh, and the kicker: I did not see my dentist. The good folks at Fulbright decided my bi-annual was not that, but just a cleaning. Did not tell me until the cleaning was done and I asked about my dentist. WTF?

Also leaned at check-out that Fulbright is "fee for service," meaning you pay in full and get to deal with your insurance company.

Second visit was this week. Got my teeth cleaned, saw my dentist--the one I've been using for a decade--and had a generally good visit, though the hygienist (a different one) also pushed the perio trays. At least I got some explanation why they might be useful...

I need to have some old filings replaced and was given an estimate for that work. I was pushed to make an appointment then and there for this work and pay up front, in exchange for a 5% discount. I asked how much of the more than two grand in new work my insurance company would cover. I was given a wide range (+/- 100s of dollars) and the suggestion to contact my insurance company myself.

My wife had a similar experience with the attempted upsell during recent visit.

Change is hard. Particularly when it comes to a long-standing relationship with a health care provider. I get it. And I am sure the folks at Fulbright know what they are doing, but the repeated upsell and push to pay for services not yet delivered has got this patient rethinking his dental care.

It has been since 2016 that I wrote my last review, so I thought I might offer a refresher due to my latest wonderful experience. I had my first filling with Dr. Faist and he made a special effort to ensure my comfort and designed a numbing technique that catered to my oral sensitivities. He was efficient, kind, and comprehensive in his approach. Truly all you can ask for in a dentist. Plus when I expressed my nervousness he told me "I was the boss" and that we could take a break whenever I needed - which seems silly and anecdotal, but when you're put in an otherwise vulnerable position such as getting a cavity filled, it gave me a mild sense of control and ultimately calmed my nerves. Additionally, his dental assistant and lead back office took extra time to check in with me and hold my hand through the process. Overall amazing experience - do yourself a favor and trust the Fulbright team with your dental needs - they wont disappoint!
