About the Business
Pacific Standard Prime is a modern steakhouse with a California vibe serving seasonal and sustainable food. We searched the planet to bring you all-natural and ethically raised beef. The menu by Executive Chef Christine Brown evolves seasonally, so there's always a new dish to discover for dinner or weekend brunch. We're passionate about bringing you high-quality ingredients, many sourced from natural, organic, and sustainable ranches and farms. Pair your choices with a hand-crafted cocktail or a sustainably produced boutique wine from a variety of small, family-owned vintners, carefully curated by owner Kevin Leach and sommelier Peggy Dean. This same philosophy informs our whiskey list, which includes over 300 selections of whiskeys, bourbons, and ryes.

Q:
Is there a dress code?
A:
No dress code. Casual by most, but a few will dress, with men wearing a sports coat without tie.

Can't say enough how incredible Pacific Standard Prime is. The service we received was incredible. Amazing attention to detail. Constantly making sure our table was taken care of. The food is definitely one of the best in town. This is a must visit if you're in the area. I would definitely recommend PSP to anyone.

Don't miss out! This place is premium all the way without being stuffy! Whether you come on a date, family night, or special occasion, this is the perfect steakhouse! If you get a chance, ask the owner about his collection of whiskey! What a great dining experience!

The ambiance and service are very good; the servers and bussers are always top notch. There's nothing you'd want more and never wait for dishes to be cleared or glasses to be filled.
The food is very good and well prepared.
The whiskey and bourbon selections are robust and respectable. It's a good place to go for tastings before you buy bottles for home use.
My only real complaint is the prices which are quite high making it a once-in-a-while treat as opposed to a recurring dining experience. If the pricing was a little more reasonable for the neighborhood, I'd likely dine there often.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 19, 20241 check-in
When I lived in Texas I would partake in the local fair- steak. Now back in the south bay I took my family to the top rated steakhouse.
1 exec summary
Great ambiance. Great service. Above average food. Easy access. Premium price but a place you want to dwell in and enjoy.
2- food
The steaks are above average. But not quite to the level that you find in Texas. California struggles with great steak and bbq. Texas struggles with great Japanese and Mexican.
The calamari appetizer was a 3.5. It was slightly better than average being not greasy. But the coating flaked off readily
The side of mashed was quite good.
I got the filet mignon at medium rare and it was easily a 4. I'd say it was missing just a bit of the "crust" flavor that you expect from a high temperature sear- which is why you go to steakhouses
3- service
Really great support and banter with the waiter. Very attentive without being overly pushy. Great suggestions in helping to navigate the menu.
The bar staff screwed up my first drink order but they fixed it immediately.
4- ambiance
So cal cool. A sophisticated place where you never feel rushed (there are South Bay trendy restaurants that give you a time limit. That stresses me out). Relax, enjoy .. we ended up having too many desserts (the crème brûlée is to die for ) and after dinner digestives because they were so awesome with us just sitting there and enjoying the experience. I love that
5- parking
Why we chose to experience this restaurant vs Rex in the village was parking. Parking in Rivera is a hit and miss affair. The parking here is reserved behind the restaurant. Just read the signs to see where you should park. It was easy and adjacent to the restaurant
Overall we had a lovely time. I'd go backHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We were into our first cocktails -delicious but expensive, by the way, had perfectly cooked calamari with a great sauce, and the wedge salad was good. When the steak came with the mashed potatoes, my husband tasted the mashed potatoes and said 'this is just like home except we don't have to do any work.' And that's a great compliment because I'm a good cook. The $85 steak however was not worth it.

Pacific Standard Prime exceeded all expectations for a casual yet upscale steakhouse. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that instantly put us at ease. The menu offered a delightful fusion of classic steakhouse fare with a delicious twist, featuring locally sourced ingredients and innovative flavor combinations. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, each bite tender and bursting with flavor. The attentive and friendly staff made us feel right at home, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Came in on a Friday night to celebrate a couple of things. We had tried the onening special as takeout back in December 2020, but I had been dreaming of the tomahawk ever since. Was very glad to get the excuse to do it.
It was well worth the wait, the char was amazing. It was a perfect medium rare, and some very nice marbled fat.
Amazingly, they have a Wagyu Wednesday that's good on Fridays. For the normal price of the Tomahawk, you get salad for two, mashed potatoes and some of the most amazing Brussels sprouts I've ever had.
We also engaged with Peggy, their new sommelier and got a nice bottle of wine, which our neighbors ended up buying for us, (we still tipped Peggy for the selection).
And unfortunately I'm avoiding the hard liquor for another month, but their bourbon and scotch list is insanely extensive, including Pappy. I keep putting off trying Pappy, next time I'm doing it.
Can't wait for the excuse to come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Situated in Redondo Beach, this steakhouse is a hidden gem, especially when upscale steakhouses are beyond reach. Boasting a well-designed interior and a full bar, it offers a great dining option.
An intriguing highlight is the personal greeting associated with ordering the Tomahawk steak, as a friend mentioned. Our first visit confirmed this, with a special visit from the chef/manager when we ordered the Tomahawk. However, on our second visit sans Tomahawk, we missed the personalized touch, observing nearby diners receiving multiple visits. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate practice or just a coincidence, but if it is a deliberate practice, can someone say pretentious?
On a positive note, the wedge salad here is excellent. I firmly believe that evaluating a steakhouse goes beyond fail-safe cuts like wagyu, and the wedge salad serves as a solid indicator of overall food quality.
The restaurant is an ideal choice for date nights or intimate gatherings due to its well-suited ambiance. Despite considering hosting an event here, the quoted price exceeded our budget, which was disappointing given the otherwise appealing venues. The overall appeal of this venue suggests it could be an excellent choice for those with a bit more flexibility. If the establishment addresses the minor inconsistencies, it has the potential to become a true culinary gem in the Redondo Beach dining scene.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Liz S.Torrance, CA0610Jan 14, 2024
Stopped in for Sunday Brunch.
Ordered:
Farmers Market Blueberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake. Ate it too fast to get a photo. It was warm and fluffy, with a crumbly top. Very good!
Chilaquiles. Good flavor on the carnitas.
Bulgogi. Good spice and flavor.
Friendly service, Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information
