Chad Castle, Redondo Beach Educational Foundation Non-Profit Organization of the Year The Non-Profit Organization of the year was established in 1991. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise money to supplement state funds for staff and instructional programs in all Redondo Beach Unified School District schools. Established in 1991 by a group of concerned parents and community leaders who realized that an excellent school system could not rely on state funding alone, RBEF raises money through its annual investor drive, business partnerships and special events. RBEF believes the best opportunities come from raising the most well-rounded children, and they support whole child development. With a decrease in state and federal funding for California schools there is consistently not enough to support the arts, science, intermural sports, and college readiness programs that RBUSD provides our students. RBEF is the only organization that can raise funds for additional staff and district-sponsored programs. The RBEF annual fundraising goal is determined by the specific needs identified by RBUSD. This goal is achieved through parent donations and business partners through our annual investor drive. “Without RBEF’s influence and financial resources, RBUSD is a lesser school district” — Dr. Steven Keller, RBUSD Superintendent
