At the November 2, 2021 City Council Meeting, the Redondo Beach City Council appointed Assistant City Manager Mike Witzansky to the new role of City Manager effective November 16, 2021. The appointment follows the retirement of City Manager Joe Hoefgen on November 15, 2021 who led the City for seven years. Mr. Witzansky (pictured below has over 22 years of experience in local government, including 15 years leading a variety of complex public service departments, operations, and projects. As Assistant City Manager (ACM) for the City of Redondo Beach he oversaw and supported the preparation of the City’s capital and operating budgets, labor relations, economic development, contract negotiations, land use, and general City services. Prior to becoming the ACM, he served as the City’s Public Works Director, and earlier as the Community Services Director. Mr. Witzansky also spent six years in the City of Torrance as a Management Aide in the City Manager’s Office, and Administrative Analyst and Sr. Business Manager in the Community Services Department. He and his family reside in the City of Torrance and have lived in the South Bay for over 21 years. Mike has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
